The Advisory Group will help the Government set out how Tasmania should prevent and respond to child sexual abuse. The group will be made up of people with lived experience of child sexual abuse and parents and caregivers. It will be a group diverse in background and experience to make sure different ideas and opinions are heard.
Together, the Advisory Group will:
Share their ideas on how the Government's response to the Commission's final report moves forward.
Give input and feedback to the Tasmanian Government. These ideas will help shape the policies, programs and services that will prevent and respond to child sexual abuse. They will give insight into how these resources will impact people who have experienced abuse.
Make sure that the views of people with lived experience of child sexual abuse are included in the advice given to the Government. This will include people from different communities, such as:
Aboriginal People
LGBTIQA+ people
Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) people
migrant and refugee people
people with disability
Share ideas on how people who have been affected by child sexual abuse can be engaged. These people may be people with lived experience of child sexual abuse, their families and broader support networks or services.
The Group will be made up of up to 12 members. These members will be appointed by the Premier for 2-year terms.
