Tell Someone – a campaign relaunched to strengthen child protection in Tasmania
January 29 2025
The Tell Someone campaign, initially launched in late 2023, has been effective in raising awareness and increasing knowledge about child sexual abuse. The campaign focuses on equipping people with the tools to detect, respond to, and act on signs of abuse.
The campaign was relaunched with a wider reach, running across multiple advertising channels including television, social media, bus advertisements, gaming platforms, posters and information cards displayed in community spaces.
This year, the Department of Premier and Cabinet has joined forces with other government agencies and community organisations to expand the campaign's impact. Local councils, sporting clubs, schools, public libraries, neighbourhood houses and other community organisations have been asked to take an active role by:
- Sharing social media posts to amplify the message.
- Displaying campaign posters and information cards in public spaces.
- Distributing information to staff, volunteers and contractors internally.
The campaign aligns closely with the Child and Youth Organisation Framework to create safe environments for children and young people. The framework emphasises the importance of robust child protection policies, staff and volunteer training and clear processes for reporting concerns. These measures are essential for adopting best practices and fostering a cultural shift toward safeguarding children and young people.
We are calling on individuals and organisations across Tasmania to get involved. By working together, communities can make sure that every child grows up in a safe and supportive environment.
