In late 2024, the Department of Health’s Child Safety and Wellbeing team was recognised for their hard work improving the health literacy of children in hospitals.
The team has been working to simplify their messages about mandatory reporting and child and youth safe behaviours, including using plain language design principles and readability tools.
The team has also been considering how to make their messages more accessible to children and young people.
And their hard work has paid off, with the team receiving a Spot On! Award from the Tasmanian Health Literacy Network.
Although the nominations were anonymous the person who nominated the team for the award said that the Child Safety and Wellbeing team is proactive, inclusive and assertive in wanting to ensure their messaged are understood by health consumers and staff alike.
Congratulations to the Child Safety and Wellbeing team for all their effort!
