Tasmania Legal Aid has recently launched Tasmanian Victim-Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse Legal, also known as TasVOCAL.
TasVOCAL is a free, independent and confidential service that provides legal advice to survivors of institutional child sexual abuse in schools, youth detention, out of home care and health services in Tasmania.
While the service’s lawyers won’t represent victim-survivors in civil or criminal claims, they will support victim-survivors to access the National Redress Scheme and specialised counselling, make referrals for legal representation, provide advice about payment schemes, seek access to records and documents and more.
This service has been funded by the Tasmanian Government in response to the Commission of Inquiry into the Tasmanian Government’s Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings.
To contact TasVOCAL, call Tasmania Legal Aid on 1300 366 611 and ask for ‘TasVOCAL’, or email [email protected].
